Centre Furnace Mansion and the Thompson Woods Preserve

Meet at 1:00 at the Centre Furnace Mansion. After a guided tour of the mansion and its history we will cross Rt. 26 and begin our walk through the Thompson Woods Preserve. This is a wonderful interurban park protected by Clearwater Conservancy. We will see a protected wetlands, trees of note and enjoy State College’s answer to New York City’s Central Park. At the conclusion of the hike, those who are interested can convene for dinner at the new brew pub at the intersection of Route 26 and Elmwood Avenue.
