Woodcock Walk at Canoe Creek

Woodcock Walk at Canoe Creek

Sun Apr 07, 2024
6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Canoe Creek State Park Education Center
205 Canoe Creek Rd, Hollidaysburg, PA, 16648

Event Type

6:00 PM – dark. Meet at the RANGER STATION.

We will walk around Canoe Creek SP in search of “the shorebird that abandoned the shore”, the American Woodcock. Early spring is the perfect time to locate this incredible bird as it performs its elaborate displays at dusk and dawn around wet forested areas. At this location, we had several American Woodcocks displaying last year, and several flew right over us!

WHAT TO BRING: binoculars, comfortable walking shoes, drink, or snack if desired.

If you have any questions or need more information, please contact JVAS Field Trip Chair Michael Kensinger at (814) 505-3410 or email him at [email protected].
