Presented by Dr. Andrew Mack, Conservation Biologist & Ornithologist

Our Speaker: Dr. Andrew Mack is a conservation biologist and ornithologist with a Ph.D. from the University of Miami. Since 1979, he has worked for the Academy of Natural Sciences, Conservation International, the Wildlife Conservation Society, the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, and Penn State Altoona, where he retired in 2024. His research has spanned numerous topics, especially cassowaries and tropical rainforest ecology in Papua New Guinea (PNG). He has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed publications and a book while also developing a major conservation program training PNG national biologists and mentoring conservation leaders. Now residing in Pennsylvania, he manages an 85-acre conservation property and serves on the boards of the Westmoreland Land Trust and the Society of Conservation Biologists Oceania.
