Pine Creek Gorge — March 26–28
Rafting, Hiking and Optional Camping

Please note: Date changed due to schedule conflict.

On Saturday, join us for a guided raft trip on Pine Creek, led by Pine Creek Outfitters (PCO). On Sunday, there will be a hike in the Gorge as well as a kayak/canoe trip on Babb’s Creek.

Cost: The cost for anyone going on the guided raft trip is $20. This covers the trip itself, wetsuit rental, and a catered lunch provided by PCO. This is half of what the trip normally costs. The Sierra Club Moshannon Group is covering the other half of the cost. Make checks payable to Sierra Club Moshannon Group.

Accommodations: Overnight camping will be available both Friday and Saturday nights. The camping area is along Rt. 6 next to Pine Creek in Ansonia. The camping is rustic (no bathrooms). There also are several hotels in the area for people who don’t want to camp.

Canoeing/Kayaking on Saturday: If anyone wants to bring their own canoes/kayaks, they can tag along with the rafts on Saturday. Please note that during the early spring, Pine Creek is a Class II river, so anyone using their own kayak or canoe must be experienced. Those who are using their own boats also need to arrange their own shuttle for the day. Pine Creek Outfitters offers shuttles (http://www.pinecrk.com/guided/guided.html).

The Moshannon Group is not subsidizing the cost of the shuttle for those who choose to bring their own canoes/kayaks, simply because this is being advertised specifically as a rafting trip.

Options for Sunday: More details to come.

Hiking: Helena Kotala will be leading a hike somewhere in the Pine Creek Gorge on Sunday.

Kayaking: Ron Johnson will be leading a kayak/canoe trip on Babb’s Creek. Contact Ron at greenbowl@verizon.net or 814-355-5434 for more information.

Reservations are required for the guided raft trip.
Please RSVP by March 18.
